Katarzyna Budnik-Gałązka

Graduated from Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, where she attended violin classes under Professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz, Assistant Professor Andrzej Gębski and teaching assistant Janusz Wawrowski. Also attended viola classes under Professor Piotr Reichert. Currently employed as a teaching assistant at her alma mater in the viola class.

She has successfully performed at numerous competitions, such as: the 47th Beethoven’s Hradec Musical Competition (The Czech Republic, 2008, 1st prize), the 15th Johannes Brahms Intenational Competition in Pörtschach (Austria, 2008, 1st prize), the 8th Jan Rakowski National Viola Competition (Poznań, 2008, 1st prize), Max Rostal International Competition in Berlin (Germany, 2009, 2nd prize), Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Sondershausen (Germany, 2009, 2nd prize followed by a special prize for the best performance of Max Reger’s Suite for viola solo) and the 4th Michal Spisak International Competition (Dąbrowa Górnicza, 2010, 2nd prize and a special prize for the best performance of obligatory piece).

She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Poland and other European countries (The Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, France). In 2010 she took part in the project called ‘Chamber Music Connects the World’ organised by the Kronberg Academy where she had an opportunity to play with the most renowned musicians, such as Gidon Kremer, Tatjana Grindenko, Yuri Bashmet and Frans Helmerson. She has been taking part in numerous well-known festivals: the Music Festival in Lancut, International Festival of Chamber Music, Music on the Heights in Zakopane and Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus (where she had been invited by Gidon Kremer himself).

She participated in various master classes, where she has mastered her skills under the guidance of following professors: Piotr Reichert, Mirosław Ławrynowicz, Yair Kless, Matis Vaytsner, Roland Baldini and Stefan Kamasa.

The artist was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, she is also a participant of ‘Mloda Polska’ scholarship programme.
